2: Take This To Heart by Mayday Parade

You meant everything to her. Did you know that? No? I guessed. That’s why I came to see you. I needed to let you know how much you meant to her. How much you still mean to her after everything you did. Why didn’t she come? Well, she doesn’t realise just how much she depends on you. But I do. I know you mean the world to her and that even though you’ve both moved on to new lives, new loves, she still dreams about what might have been. It’s holding her back and she so desperately needs to let go. Pardon? What was that mumble? Maybe she doesn’t want to let go? Of course she doesn’t want to let go. No one ever wants to let go of what was and what might have been if things had happened differently. But she needs to let go. It’s not a case of what she wants. It’s doing her no good to be wasting away her life with what ifs.

There’s no need to look so scared. We both want what’s best for her. And this, I think, is the easiest way for her to let go. To move on. Don’t run, please. It’ll just make this so much harder. Come back! It won’t hurt, I promise. Look, there’s no need to be waving the knife at me. The police? You can’t call the police. They’ll take her away from me. What do you mean, they’ll lock me up? I’m not mad. I love her. And besides, I’m not the one brandishing a kitchen knife. Yes, I know I’ve got a gun instead, but don’t you find guns are so much cleaner? It’s so annoying having to stab someone and getting blood all over your clothes. Such a pain to clean. Put the knife down. I mean it. PUT IT DOWN!

Oh. Problem solved. I told you guns were cleaner.
