23: Last Of The American Girls by Green Day

“Erm, Caz?”
“Yeah?” The redhead looked across at the man in the passenger seat of the sports car.
“Are they supposed to be following us?” The woman glanced in the rearview mirror and swore. Her companion smirked.
“I’ll take that as a ‘no, Kurt, they’re not,’” the man sighed. “Remind me again why we spray-painted the town hall?” Caz laughed, eyes flicking again towards the cars in the mirror.
“Because they’re boring old farts and they haven’t got a clue how to run this place,” she declared. Kurt scoffed.
“What?”
“I think you just wanted an excuse to cause trouble,” he muttered, dark eyes fixed on the dashboard.
“Well, there was that,” she admitted, “but seriously, they’ve totally screwed everything up since they came into power.” She glanced again at the advancing cars in the mirror. Kurt groaned as he followed her gaze towards the speed dial.
“No, Caz.” Caz smiled.
“No what?” She laughed as she slammed her foot on the gas and the car took off down the high street, sirens ringing in their ears.
Argh. Right, finally done – laptop decided to turn off just as I finished but it wasn’t saved so I had to rewrite part of it. Anyways, this is sort of an excerpt from a plot idea I’m thinking of developing and it just seemed to fit the lyrics quite nicely. Comments as always very much appreciated. And the link HERE is to the lyrics for the entire song, cos the whole song was pretty good inspiration.

Your characters are so different from mine, but I like them, there is always something wild in them, something that refuses to be controlled, a desire to be free. Everyone has that, I guess.
